EC3D Compression Socks

EC3D Compression Socks

📅August 26th, 2014, 22:30

As much as we would all love to spend all day after a hard session in the NormaTec Recovery gear (and sometimes we do!), there are times when work, travel or life may get in the way. What to do when you need to keep blood circulating but don’t have time to get in to Recharge for a full session? We’ve recently fallen in love with EC3D compression socks (well, all of their compression garments actually!) and now have them on our retail shelves for you to take home with you! What makes these compression socks so great and how do they work to help accelerate recovery? Let us tell you…

The Science

The medical industry has long recognized the healing benefits of compression garments for posture issues, hernias, degenerative diseases and other ailments.

The balanced surface pressure that compression garments provide triggers improved blood circulation, which delivers more oxygen to working muscles. Better circulation also enables the body to eliminate lactic acid and other metabolic wastes that can cause muscle fatigue.

Because compression garments also stabilize the musculoskeletal structure, they can prevent and even treat injury once it occurs.

Compression tights, shorts, socks and shirts are becoming more and more popular among professional and non-professional athletes. Many companies claim to offer compression through La recherchetheir garments, but in reality you need a minimum of 15 mmHG to be considered true medical-grade compression and get the results you need.

In medicine, the millimeter of mercury (mmHG) is the “gold standard” for blood pressure measurement. EC3D’s medical-grade compression garments are the result of more than 15 years of innovative medical research, and a devotion to the active lifestyle. EC3D has put their garments to the test against other garments that claim to offer compression, and the results are not surprising. EC3D has the best graduated compression of all. Those who do have a good amount of compression haven’t calibrated their compression, which results in reverse compression. Meaning they have, for example, more compression at the calf (28 MmHg ) than at the ankle ( 20 MmHg), which can be very dangerous for people that do need blood flow enhancement. This can cause a garo effect and make  your legs feel more tired. One thing EC3D can tell you, we dare to say our compression level on every products we have, who else does it ?

(Big thanks to EC3D for providing this awesome information on their website!)

Compression Recovery Socks

If you’re looking for a straight up recovery compression sock, this one is the way to go. This sock has a tighter woven zone directly on the calf to maximize compression for quick recovery. If you don’t have time to get in to Recharge to use the NormaTec recovery sleeves wear these compression recovery socks for two to three hours after you exercise to expedite recovery. These are also great for long hours of travel on the road or in a plane. This sock has an open toe and incredible arch support, so helps relieve pain associated with plant fasciitis.

OR-900C_BLU_CI-313x462Twisted Compression Socks

Ok, so we don’t often get genuinely excited about socks, but we did for this one! What’s so great about it? The twisted compression sock is the first and only compression sock to combine performance and recovery in one single sock. How does it work? Wear the twist socks normally as normal socks while you head out for your run, ride, hike, etc.

When you’re finished with your activity, push the sock down to your ankle, twist it outward 180 degrees and then pull them back up. Once the color that was in the back during your activity is in the front you now have a recovery sock! Twisting the sock not only increases compression by 5mmHg, but also helps push the toxins out of your lower leg. The higher compression zone that was on the shin is now directly on your calf, which means soreness and fatigue are reduced.
