Strength Training for High School Athletes

Strength Training for High School Athletes

📅June 16th, 2015, 07:46

A properly designed strength program will enhance athleticism, which is key to strong sports performance. So why do so many young athletes fail in their efforts to get stronger/faster and perform better?

In general, young athletes athletes do not focus enough on developing adequate levels of strength. This is a huge mistake, because strength is a foundational attribute for improving athletic performance. Too often, young athletes focus instead on developing speed, power and explosiveness. These are all critical to sports performance, but they can be developed only marginally if an athlete lacks adequate strength.

Speed, agility, flexibility, mobility, power and explosiveness are all aspects of athleticism that can be significantly improved by increases in strength.

This 6-week summer strength program for high school athletes with our strength and conditioning coach Joey Jacinto will consist of 1-2 weeks of instruction and assessment and 4-5 weeks of athletic strength development.

The focus of our summer program is to improve athletic movement patterns, performance and reduce the risk of injury. Our small group training will be held at Recharge on Monday and Thursday at 10am. The program will begin on July 9th and run through August 13th for only $145 per athlete. This program is designed for high school and college athletes, and will be appropriate for athletes in all sports.
